Creativity Is Healing Too

For most of my life, caring for others has been at the center of who I am. I raised five children while working as a registered nurse for many years, spending many long days and nights helping people through illness, uncertainty, and difficult moments. Along the way, I was also blessed to help care for my grandchildren as they grew. Today my children are adults living their own lives, and in this season I now find myself caring for my husband as well.

But along the way, I discovered something important.

Creativity is healing too.

Working with our hands, creating something from nothing, and nurturing life around us can bring a kind of peace that is hard to describe. Over time, creativity quietly became part of my own healing journey.

In 2010, I experienced one of the deepest losses a parent can face. My oldest daughter, Elena, passed away. Grief changes you. It reshapes the way you see the world and the way you move through it.

Not long after, I began to notice that the moments when I was creating—sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, or making something by hand—were moments when my heart could breathe again. Creativity didn’t erase the grief, but it gave me space to carry it.

In 2013, I was also diagnosed with breast cancer. That experience, too, reminded me that healing reaches far beyond the physical body. It touches the mind, the heart, and the spirit.

Through these seasons of life, creativity became one of the ways I found my way forward.

Working with my hands, growing things from the soil, preparing nourishing plant-based meals, and creating natural bath and body products all reminded me that life continues to renew itself. Even after loss, even after illness, there is still beauty and purpose in creating something meaningful.

Now, in this new season of life, I feel called to share that journey.

Creativelycc is a space devoted to healing through creativity—from the garden, the kitchen, the sewing table, and everyday life.

My hope is that this space encourages others to rediscover the creativity that already lives within them. Creativity does not have to be perfect or complicated.

Sewing, crocheting, gardening, preparing nourishing plant-based meals, and creating natural bath and body products have all brought balance and calm into my life. One of the places this creativity has grown is in my small handmade business, Soapinapouch & Candles where I make natural soaps and candles inspired by simple, nourishing living.

Because sometimes creativity is not just about making something beautiful.

Sometimes creativity is healing too.

In many ways, every seed planted, every stitch made, and every simple creation carries a piece of the love that continues to guide my life.
